Boost Adoption of Health Technology by Seniors

Older populations stand to benefit the most from healthcare technologies; however, they experience numerous barriers to adoption. Designing technology solutions that cater to the unique needs of seniors can motivate them to reap all the advantages healthcare technology for seniors has to offer.

A Public Health Approach to Advance Care Planning

(3 min read)

Engaging in advance care planning (ACP) conversations and ensuring completion of related legal and written documents involves a joint effort between patients, their families and health care professionals. Given the rapid growth of the aging population and their rising need for end-of-life care in a culture uncomfortable discussing death, ACP should be approached as a public health issue.

The Latest Technology Platform Fixes & Enhancements

๐Ÿ“ฃ๐ŸŒŸNew Feature: ACP Decisions Quick Start๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“ฃ

Are your clinicians too busy to login to the system to view content or prescribe codes?

ACP Decisions Quick Start was inspired by the desire to make it as easy as possible to share information with your patients during the pandemic and beyond. We do this by providing pre-made codes that are accessible via simple links. Because the codes are pre-made, clinicians do not need to access the platform to view or share content. The same links can be shared with multiple patients and clinicians.

More details about this feature can be found in your email inbox with subject: Tackle Vaccine Hesitancy using the *New* ACP Decisions Quick Start on April 16th. If you're interested in enabling this feature for your organization for any of the videos in our video collection, please contact support@acpdecisions.org.

๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“ฃNew Feature: Epic EHR Instruction Import๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“ฃ

Clinicians can facilitate informed healthcare decision making and advance care planning with their patients by accessing ACP Decisionsโ€™ content through Epic EHR. This new capability enables providers to seamlessly prescribe relevant videos or documents that can be easily accessed by their patients.

How it works:

  1. Clinician chooses applicable decision aids from the ACP Decision content library through Patient Instructions in Epic EHR.
  2. Patient receives instructions and an access code in MyChart.
  3. Patient uses their code to view the prescribed content on their computer or mobile device.
  4. Prescriber can track content views through the My ACP Decisions platform.

If you're interested in enabling this feature for your organization, please contact support@acpdecisions.org.

๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“ฃNew Feature: Get the Guide๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“ฃ

For videos that have corresponding handouts available, clinicians no longer need to create prescription codes with both videos and guides.

The handout will now be automatically available to patients via the Get the Guide button that will appear in the video player.

This will count as a viewed item on the "Top 10 Most Viewed Items" table on the Reporting tab like other guide views. On the raw data export, it will show up as a "Get Guide" event type.
