Sharing Patient Codes via Email or Text on iOS Devices

From the ACP Tools iOS app, you have additional sharing options when issuing patient codes.

Your options may look different from the options in the screenshots below. This depends on the device type (iPhone versus iPad), the iOS version, and any restrictions your IT team may have placed on your device. The screenshots below show this procedure on an iPhone. These steps are identical on an iPad.

Text Patient Codes from the iOS App

Be sure to check with your organization for any rules or guidelines regarding communicating with patients via text.

For best results when sharing codes via text, use a secure texting service like Doximity or Twilio.

If you choose to share codes via text using a personal, 10-digit phone number, please be aware that iOS devices do not recognize web addresses as hyperlinks when the sending phone number is unknown to the device. If you text an iOS device for the first time, the user will not be able to click the hyperlink and open the web address from their device.
